KUALA LUMPUR: The Sepang International Circuit (SIC), the promoter and organisers for the 2018 Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix (GP) are as ready as ever to host the 28th edition of the prestigious race, and are now in the final phase of preparations to ensure for an exciting, thrilling and entertaining race weekend.

SIC chief executive officer, Datuk Razlan Razali who gave a briefing to about 500 volunteers made up of circuit marshals, medical and media center personnel among others earlier today (Saturday), said that they are ready and awaiting for the arrival of the world’s best riders.

"All of us are prepared and ready to organise and host what is the biggest motorsports event in the country.

"All those involved have worked very hard to ensure that we are among the very best when it comes to organising such a prestigious and world renowned race such as this,” said Razlan who celebrated his 10th year as SIC’s chief executive officer this year.

As usual, competition will begin on Friday with the free practice sessions, and Razlan said that all accompanying activities involved with the race will begin from tomorrow (Sunday) onwards.

"The television production crews will arrive tomorrow (Sunday), after the end if this weekend’s Philip Island Grand Prix.

"Our programme with the fans on the other hand will begin this Tuesday where there will be a friendly football match between some of the riders against a Malaysian media team.

"On Wednesday, there will be a ‘the tarik’ session together with some of the MotoGP riders at the NZ Curry House Garden Café near KLCC.

"Each of the race teams will have their very own programmes which include meet-and-greet sessions with the fans. So it is going to be a very exciting and fun-filled week ahead,” said Razlan.
