KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian University won the women's Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) title today after coming from a goal down to edge CS Mustang 2-1 at the National Stadium.

The university team, who won the Charity Shield last month, have 23 points from seven wins and two draws.

Liaoning and PDRM Blue Warriors were tied with 21 points each but the China team finished second on goal difference.

CS Mustang took the lead through Nur Irdina Asnida Yusmi in the eighth minute but four minutes later the university side levelled through Nurmaizatul Hanim Syafi Sheik Fuad off a penalty corner.

Dian Nursyakira Najwa Al-Wadqa Nazeri scored the winner in the 23rd minute.

Malaysian University coach Lailin Abu Hassan said they faced some anxious moments against Mustang before prevailing.

"It feels nice to win our second title. And now we will be gunning for the Vivian May Soars (overall cup) title."
