KUALA LUMPUR: Kuching City booked their berth in the FA Cup quarter-finals after edging KL City 3-2 after extra time on Friday.

Substitute Zahrul Nizam Joe Kifli netted the winner for the Cats deep into added time at the KLFA Stadium.

The pulsating match saw KL's young forward Haqimi Azim Rosli taking the lead (13th minute) before Filemon Anyi drew level (25th) but Paulo Josue put KL back in front (35th). Nur Shamie Iszuan Amin struck the equaliser for Kuching in the 67th.

KL's Giancarlo Gallifuoco's goal in the 90th was ruled out by VAR, and the City Boys were frustrated again when referee Tuan Mohd Yassin Tuan Mohd Hanafiah dimissed S. Sharvin's penalty appeal after a VAR check.

Kuching City will take on the winners of the Selangor-Negri Sembilan clash in the final eight.

At Darulaman Stadium, 10-man Kedah swatted aside minnows Bukit Tambun 5-0.

The Canaries' Ebenezer Assifuah bagged a hattrick (39th, 68th and 79th), while their other goals were scored by Milos Gordic (15th) and Amirul Hisyam Awang Kechik (21st).

The match also saw substitute Aiman Afif Md Afizu red carded by referee Khairulsyahmi Ahmad Khalidi in the 73rd minute after being on the pitch for just two minutes for a stud up challenge on Marcus Mah.

The northerners will take on Penang in the quarter-finals, following their shootout 4-3 win over Sri Pahang.

The match at the Temerloh Stadium remained tied at 1-1 after extra time following goals from Nabil Ahmad Latpi for the Panthers (40th) and Mykola Agapov's equaliser for the Elephants (79th).

The shootout saw Manuel Hidalgo, Sergio Aguero and Aleksandar Cvetkovic hitting the target for Pahang but Agapov and Fadhli Shas missed their attempts.

Penang's Rafael Vitor, Syamer Kutty Abba, Adib Raop and Nabil made their shots count after Syafi Sapari failed to convert his attempt.

Meanwhile, Terengganu staged a comeback to edge 10-man Perak 2-1 at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.

The match saw the Seladang taking an early lead through Luiz Henrique Motta (sixth) before the Turtles replied through Safawi Rasid (36th) and Marin Pilj (42nd).

The visitors were reduced to 10 men after Firdaus Saiyadi was sent off in the 64th minute for a foul.

The East Coast side will face either Kuala Lumpur Rovers or Sabah in the quarter-finals.
