KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has officially confirmed Selangor's withdrawal from tomorrow's Charity Shield season opener against Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.

However, the consequences of Selangor's pullout remain unknown as MFL has not announced any punitive action.

The Red Giants decided yesterday not to play in the Charity Shield following the horrifying acid attack on their player Faisal Halim.

"Selangor communicated their decision through an official letter to the MFL, resulting in JDT being awarded a 'walkover' victory with a 3-0 scoreline, granting them the initial three points in the Super League," MFL stated on its social media pages.

"Further deliberation on the ramifications of the withdrawal will be elevated to the MFL board of directors for subsequent action."
