KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has started investigation into the allegations made in a poison pen letter against the FA of Malaysia (FAM).

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the investigation started on Wednesday.

He also said that MACC officers had taken a couple of files from FAM.

"I can confirm that the MACC has begun investigation into a few allegations. Most of the allegations are related to administration issues.

"Based on the public claims, the MACC launched its investigation three days ago (Wednesday) and we have taken a couple of files from FAM as part of the investigation.

"Most of the issues (in the (viral email) are related to administrative matters, and MACC will not probe into that. MACC will only investigate claims made on criminal matters.

"To date, we do not want to reveal any details on the investigation. We urge the public not to speculate but to allow the investigation to be conducted.

"The MACC will investigate the matter professionally and act fairly to all parties involved," Azam told Timesport.

Last Sunday, an email from UltrasFAM alleged mismanagement of funds and fraud in FAM. It also alleged that FAM president Datuk Hamidin Amin gets a monthly salary of RM90,000.

Hamidin responded by saying FAM was open to being investigated, and was considering lodging a police report.

However, FAM later said it would not go to the police, and instead let its independent Integrity Unit look into the issue.
