KUALA LUMPUR: Is Kim Pan Gon set to leave Harimau Malaya?

Pan Gon, who guided Malaysia to their first Asian Cup appearance in Doha after 17 years, could do so after Harimau Malaya's recent back-to-back defeats to Oman in the World Cup qualifiers.

It is learned that Pan Gon and his coaching staff are ready to leave the national squad if their services are no longer required by the FA of Malaysia (FAM).

According to sources, Pan Gon and his coaching staff have sent a letter to FAM, requiring compensation of only three months' salary if the national body decides to terminate their services.

"Their contracts are only up for extension at the end of next year. However, they are ready to leave the team with only three months' salary as compensation," a source told Berita Harian today.

Harimau Malaya were top of Group D of the World Cup qualifiers before losing to Oman twice with 2-0 scorelines in Muscat and Bukit Jalil.

Malaysia have dropped to third in the standings behind Oman and Kyrgyzstan.

This now puts them in a difficult position to advance to the third round of the qualifiers.
