KUALA LUMPUR: Right-back Azam Azmi Murad suffered a double blow during Malaysia's World Cup qualifier against Oman at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday.

His team lost 2-0 to Oman and he suffered a serious knee injury that is set to rule him out of next month's Under-23 Asian Cup in Doha.

Azam was tackled by an Oman player in the 26th minute which left him with an ugly knee injury, and he had to be substituted. He had to leave the stadium on crutches.

National coach Kim Pan Gon said Azam's injury was serious.
