KUALA LUMPUR: Footballer Azam Azmi Murad has a foot, or a boot, so to speak, in two places.

The Terengganu defender is a member of the national senior team training for the World Cup qualifiers against Oman on March 21 in Muscat and March 26 in Kuala Lumpur.

And he is also in the national youth team training for the Under-23 Asian Cup from April 15-May 3 in Doha.

The 23-year-old said he would love to play Oman in Muscat as this will help elevate his game.

"It's up to the coaches to decide whether I go to the senior squad or the Under-23 team," said Azam.

"I want to do well with the Under-23 team in the Asian Cup. I have no issues playing wherever my services are needed.

"Personally I want to play for the senior team, we know their quality."

Azam made seven appearances for the national senior team since 2022, and has been a mainstay of the national Under-23 side since 2021, helping them to qualify for the Asian tournament.

The Penang-born player said he is aware of his position in the pecking order in the senior team, and he aims to gain experience with Harimau Malaya.

"The competition is tough in the team and everyone is fighting to make the final squad. My focus is with the senior team because their assignment comes first."
