KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor will give head coach Nidzam Jamil the freedom to select his assistants for the new M-League season.

Nidzam replaced Tan Cheng Hoe as head coach earlier this month after the latter resigned to join Thai club, Police Tero.

Selangor chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said Nidzam will have full control and can select his assistants.

Nidzam hopes to bring in two assistants.

Cheng Hoe was assisted by Nidzam and Ramon Marcote last season.

"We will hire two or three new staff. Nidzam is reviewing their CVs. We have given him the mandate to select suitable candidates," said Johan today.

"Among them is someone from Australia who played in Malaysia when Nidzam was playing for Selangor."

Nidzam hopes to sign one local and one foreign coach to support him.

Many Australian players had plied their trade in the M-League between 1999 and 2008 when Nidzam was also a player.

Among them include Mitchell Prentice, Tom Pondeljak, Marko Rudan, John Tambouras, Matthew Bingley, Andrew Clark, Simon Colosimo, Travis Dodd, Ante Milicic and Ross Aloisi.
