KUALA LUMPUR: Daniel Ting believes Harimau Malaya can cope without co-captain Matthew Davies when they face world No. 80 Oman in a World Cup qualifier in Muscat on Thursday.

Defenders Davies and Junior Eldstal did not make the 24-member team, who headed to Muscat today, due to injuries.

With Davies' absence, centre-back Dion Cools is expected to be handed the captain's armband.

"Of course, it's a significant loss when your captain is unable to play," said Daniel regarding Davies' absence.

"Davies and Eldstal are big characters, and surely, we will miss them.

"However, we have depth in the squad. I believe the coaches have prepared for this."

The 32-year-old said the team are shaping well for the Oman game.

"We are not in an ideal situation where we are coming into this match during the pre-season.

"However, it is something we must overcome when we face Oman."

Daniel, who is on loan to Sabah from Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), was part of Kim Pan Gon's squad for the Asian Cup in Qatar.

He made one appearance in the Asian Cup when Malaysia held South Korea 3-3 on Jan 25.
