KUALA LUMPUR: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) has asked national women's footballer Intan Sarah Anisah Zulgafli to explain after she questioned Harimau Malaya coach Kim Pan Gon's tactics.

Pan Gon had replaced Brendan Gan in the 101st minute in stoppage time with Romel Morales. But Intan viewed Pan Gon's move as unwise in her social media post and expressed her desire to see Safawi Rasid come in instead of Morales.

As it turned out, Intan put her foot in her mouth when Morales duly scored in the 102nd minute for a 3-3 draw with mighty South Korea in the Asian Cup in Doha on Thursday.

Intan's way of telling Pan Gon "what to do" had also earned the wrath of many fans.

The post has landed Intan in hot water as it has come to FAM's attention.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman said: "We will call her, and as a national player she should not have made such statements.

"We will see her statement first. We have always reminded our players during training camps about their conduct on social media."

Intan had since tweeted her apology with a picture of her and Pan Gon.

"It was the heat of emotions that controlled me, hence the tweet during the game. sorry for what I said.

"I admit my mistake. I respect the players and coach Kim Pan Gon," Intan posted.
