KUALA LUMPUR: The Perlis FA (PFA), who received a backdoor entry from the FAM Cup to the Premier League, have admitted that they have yet to settle their players’ salaries.

PFA president Datuk Ahmad Amizal Shaifit Ahmad Rafie, however, said he will settle last month’s arrears soon.

“People outside are making accusations, but the fact is that the team are focused on the mission not like what has been described on social media.

“I hope everyone will give us space as the league has just started.

“The negative news about the team is affecting us. I have told everyone that I will pay their salaries soon.

“I only took over PFA three months ago, and I need more time to get things going,” said Amizal recently.

PFA are in hot water following their captain Safee Sali’s decision to file a complaint against them with the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) for failing to pay his salary last month.

It is said that several players feel insecure and will likely leave if the club do not pay them for two months as stipulated in their contracts.

Former Kelantan captain Badhri Radzi and Khyril Muhymeen Zambri were not part of the team in their opening Premier League match against Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia last week. Perlis lost 2-1.

“Badhri is in Kelantan due to health issues and will be rejoining the team soon,” he added.
