KUALA LUMPUR: The cricket world has been rocked after a pro-ISIS outlet released a poster warning of a possible terror attack at this year's T20 World Cup.

The poster shared by the outlet shows an image of a man in a hoodie standing at a stadium, with a rifle on his shoulder, drones, and a stick of dynamite with a ticking clock.

It was emblazoned with the words "YOU WAIT FOR THE MATCHES...." The next line, in dripping blood-red text, stated "AND WE WAIT FOR YOU."

The poster mentions New York-based Nassau Stadium, June 9, 2024, which is the date scheduled for a highly anticipated group match between bitter rivals Pakistan and India.

The sold-out 34,000 capacity stadium will host one of the most anticipated matches during the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

British news outlet Daily Mail reported that following the release of the poster, US authorities are not increasing their threat level.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) said in a statement that the safety and security of everyone is its top priority.

"The safety and security of everyone at the event is our No. 1 priority, and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place," read the statement.

"We work closely with authorities in our host countries and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event."

The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup is slated to be held between June 1 and 29, co-hosted by the United States and West Indies (Caribbean).

The temporary-built Nassau Stadium will host eight matches.
