KUALA LUMPUR: Academy Badminton Malaysia coaching director Rexy Mainaky is deeply concerned with the inconsistent form of former world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.

Aaron-Wooi Yik, who are preparing for their second Olympic appearance in Paris after winning a bronze at Tokyo 2020, failed to make an impression in the recent Malaysia Masters and ongoing Singapore Open.

The pair were eliminated in the quarter-finals of both tournaments..

In the Singapore Open, Aaron-Wooi Yik lost tamely 21-10, 21-14 to Denmark's Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen on Friday.

"Aaron-Wooi Yik's match lacked the impact and direction in Singapore," Rexy told Bernama today.

Rexy hopes the World No. 5 will refresh their efforts in next week's Indonesia Open.

They will open against Vinson Chiu-Joshua Yuan of the United States in Jakarta.

The Indonesia Open will be Aaron-Wooi Yik's last competition before the Paris Olympics on July 26-Aug 11. – BERNAMA
