KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani pulled off a stunner to reach the second round of the Asian Championships (BAC) on Wednesday.

The world No. 19 paved the way for the rest of the field after stunning reigning world champions and second seeds Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea 21-13, 21-18 in the first round at the Ningbo Olympic Sports Centre.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin, who are in the running to make the Thomas Cup squad later this month, will play homesters He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu next.

Earlier, two other Malaysian men's doubles pairs also reached the second round.

As expected, former world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik made quick work of India's qualifiers Hariharan Amsakarunan-Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi 21-15, 21-14, while Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun defeated China's Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi 21-15, 21-12.

Aaron-Wooi Yik will play Japan's Kenya Mitsuhashi-Hiroki Okumura in the second round while Wei Chong-Kai Wun face Taiwan's Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan.
