KUALA LUMPUR: Marcus Hang from SMK Tanah Puteh, Pahang, took home the boys' Under-13 singles and doubles titles, with Teoh Chong Yee from Regent International School Kuantan, in the Allianz Junior Badminton Championship (AJBC) Grand Finals at Bukit Kiara Stadium today.
Johor's Low Zi Yu of SMJK Seg Hwa captured the girls' Under-13 singles title before returning to court to partner Auni Fatihin of SMK Kangkar Pulai, to win the doubles title.
In the Under-15, Tiew Yi Cheng of SMK Methodist Telok Datok won the boys' singles title while Damien Ling of SMK Bandar Utama Damansara (4) and Ethan Oh of Sekolah Menengah Sri KDU bagged the boys' doubles title.
The girls' category saw Nur Aina Maisarahof SMK Sri Intan win the singles title while Giovanna Koay of SMJK Perempuan China Pulau Pinang, partnered Lee Joinne of SMJK Jit Sin, to the doubles title.
Allianz Malaysia gave a special grant of RM2,000 to each of the winners in addtion to the RM1,000 prize money for AJBC Grand Finals winners.
A total of 2,600 players participated in the qualifying rounds in 10 locations between July and November. Only 183 shuttlers made the cut for the AJBC Grand Finals.
