KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik finally bested China's Ou Xuan Yi-Liu Yu Chen as they stormed into the men's doubles semi-finals of the World Championships in Copenhagen on Friday.
World No. 4 Aaron-Wooi Yik won 21-10, 15-21, 21-14 and are now just two wins away from being the first pair to successfully defend their world crown since China's Cai Yun-Fu Hai Feng last accomplished a three-peat in 2011.
Wooi Yik said: "Aaron and I really fought hard. We have come a long way since our tough first-round match.
"We managed to build our confidence and, today in the third game, we did so well.
"We really hope to maintain the same focus in the next match," said Wooi Yik.
Standing in Aaron-Wooi Yik's way are world No. 6 Seo Seung Jae-Kang Min Hyuk of South Korea, who ousted Indonesian veterans Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan, the three-time world champions, 21-19, 21-17.
It will be an interesting clash as the two pairs have not played each other before
Seung Jae-Min Hyuk have been in good form with two titles (Malaysia Masters and Australia Open) to show in the last three months.
