THE BA of Malaysia (BAM) hope to receive positive feedback from the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on whether the world body would be offering financial help to tournament organisers.

The cost to organise the US$750,000 (RM3.2 million) Malaysia Open on Nov 24-29 is expected to increase to more than RM4 million as the BAM have to spend more to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

However, the BWF may find it difficult to offer assistance to organisers after recording a deficit of US$1.8 million (RM7.7 million) last year.

"The BWF have been gathering feedback. We are looking forward to hearing from them," said BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh.

The matter is expected to be discussed during the BWF's annual general meeting (AGM) via online on July 18.
