IPOH: The Perak shuttlers are ready to upstage favourites Selangor in the Malaysia Games women’s team final in Ipoh tomorrow.

In the semi-finals today, Perak ousted Negri Sembilan 3-1 while Selangor beat Kedah 3-1.

Perak, coached by former national doubles player, Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari, however, face a crunch match.

Based on the seedings, Selangor have the edge. However, Perak are counting on their home fans to make the difference.

Perak are all fired up to win their first gold in the women’s team event after failing to do so at the 2016 Games in Kuching.

Fairuzizuan said both Perak and Selangor are evenly balanced on paper, and he expects the team who adapt faster to the situation, to triumph.

“It’s 50-50, and there is no secret strategy,” said Fairuzizuan, who will field national player Lee Ying Ying at first singles.

Selangor coach Danan Jaya, whose team won the silver two years ago, said they have a good chance of winning gold this time.

He felt that the Selangor team are well balanced in both singles and doubles.
