KUALA LUMPUR: Tropicana Corporation Bhd has completed the renewal of the 0.49-acre Pantai Kok Rest & Recreation (R&R) centre in collaboration with the Langkawi State Government in Kedah.

The developer spent RM2.5 million to upgrade the existing facilities with eight commercial lots and 70 parking bays for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles.

Jared Ang, group executive director of Tropicana, said the joint renewal of the R&R centre showcases not just Tropicana's commitment to building a vibrant and sustainable township in Langkawi but the company's targeted approach to social outreach as well.

"By focusing on and bolstering one of the state's key economic drivers, we ensure that our contributions have a meaningful impact and contribute to the district's long-term sustainability," he said.

The company is developing the 5.28-acre Tropicana Cenang integrated mixed development, featuring residential, hospitality, and commercial components, with a total gross development value of RM1.4 billion.

About a year ago, it signed a hotel management agreement with Marriott International to build a 270-key five-star hotel, dubbed Sheraton Langkawi Resort and Spa, at the mixed development.
