KUALA LUMPUR: The Local Government Development Ministry (KPKT) is allocating RM150 million to build a condominium project in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, with each unit selling for about RM45,000 when completed.

According to KPKT's minister, Nga Kor Ming, this initiative is part of the People's Housing Programme (PPR) project and is in line with KPKT's goal of supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.

The housing project, according to Nga, would have 700 units over an 18.5-hectare parcel of land and is scheduled to begin at the end of this year.

"In my three visits to this state, I have been announcing allocations. It was RM13.3 million and RM31.04 million last week, and now I added another RM150 million to build PPR. It is the largest PPR project, and it needs to be carried out as soon as possible for the well-being of the people," he said, according to Bernama.

Nga said that the project will be built close to Seremban town and include a variety of facilities.

He hoped to combat the unfavourable reputation of PPR by making sure the project is designed and built with nice landscaping and pleasant to the residents.

KPKT would continue to take on PPR projects as long as there was land available to develop them," he told reporters after the ceremony to hand over the rent-to-own (RTO) PPR offer letter to 94 beneficiaries of Ladang Tanah Merah.

Nga hoped that more states would offer land to KPKT to undertake PPR projects.
