LETTERS: The West and its leaders need to answer for the massacre of Palestinians by Israel.

Not a thing has been done to stop the killings since Oct 7, 2023.

However, we must differentiate between the government and the people. We know that decent people in the West are against Israel's genocidal action in Gaza.

Witness anti-Israel protests in Western capitals. Even a United States airman died after setting himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C. to protest Israel's brutality in Gaza.

I don't agree with some people blaming Muslims and Islamic nations for not coming to Palestinians' aid.

What kind of action can they take? No Islamic country is a permanent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) member.

Also, the Western military interventions in Syria, Lebanon, Libya and Iraq showed how weak the ummah are.

Plus, all these years of coming out with resolution after resolution at the UN came to nought every time the Israeli occupation and oppression were on the table at the UNSC.

An indication of the Western pro-Israel mind is that the media coverage is limited when the world came out to put Israel to shame at the International Court of Justice.

And all, if not most, Israeli violence against Palestinians was downplayed or doubted.

Meanwhile, Israeli accusations against Palestinians were immediately reported, supported and followed by sanctions by Western governments. Examples are the 40 beheaded babies story and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency staff helping Hamas stage the Oct 7 attack.

Forbes reported that 579 children were killed in Ukraine in the two years of conflict with Russia, while Anadolu Agency of Turkey reported that 13,230 Palestinian children died in four months by Israel atrocities.

That number is higher if you take into account the more than eight decades of Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

The latest example was a few days ago when the Israel Defence Force shot Palestinians waiting to get aid.

Now, it's all about airdropping supplies to Gazans. Still no move from the United States and Israel towards a ceasefire with Ramadan starting soon.

So what is the meaning of international law or rules-based order?

Clearly, apart from genocide being allowed in Gaza, the West and Israel are showing us what real terrorism is all about.
