LETTERS: The recent cyber intrusion of the Halal Malaysia portal has raised concerns about the security of sensitive information.

While the swift action to restore normalcy by Dec 13 addressed the immediate issue, there were concerns raised about the initial delay in recognising the cyber breach.

In response, Jakim director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff outlined a comprehensive plan to upgrade the server, operating system and mobile application to prevent further security breaches.

A collective effort involving skilled professionals, advanced technology and public awareness is essential to safeguard sensitive data. The government must implement cybersecurity measures.

Initiatives include regular training to foster a culture of vigilance, collaboration with experts for frequent penetration testing, the establishment of a dedicated response team, and international information sharing,
