THIS year, the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) stands at the precipice of a new era, boldly embracing innovation and sustainability as it steps into the future.

Being the cornerstone of Malaysia's agricultural framework, Felda is poised to redefine its trajectory with an innovative approach to generating agricultural wealth.

Under the visionary leadership of its chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Felda is embracing a progressive future characterised by sustainable practices through zero waste, a circular economy and championing initiatives on carbon credits.

This bold vision sets the stage for Felda Settlers' Day 2024, an event that is a departure from its traditional half-day format, expanding into a three-day festival that promises to be a transformative experience for all attendees.

Expected to attract over 500,000 visitors, this year's event in July promises to be a vibrant showcase of innovation, sustainability and cultural heritage, reflecting Felda's dynamic journey into the future.

As Felda continues to evolve, its focus on sustainable agricultural practices and exploring new economic avenues remains central. Thus, Felda Settlers' Day 2024 serves as a platform to highlight these advancements, demonstrating Felda's commitment to environmental stewardship and economic resilience.

This event is not only a celebration but also a vivid illustration of how Felda is moving forward, adopting modern technologies and sustainable methods that will set new standards for agricultural communities nationwide.

Expanding to three full days, the festival will showcase a holistic approach to community care, featuring an array of programmes that reflect Felda's comprehensive engagement with its diverse stakeholders. From environmental sustainability to economic innovation, the event's agenda is carefully crafted to highlight the multifaceted nature of Felda's commitments.

For the youth and students, the festival offers an exciting line-up of activities designed to prepare them for a promising future. Glamping, an exciting job fair, and masterclasses conducted by some of the best minds in the country are just the beginning.

A robotic challenge will also be held to spark creativity and innovation among young minds, equipping them with the skills needed in a technologically driven world.

Nature enthusiasts will find their passion catered to with programmes like an elephant adoption initiative and various agricultural activities, emphasising Felda's commitment to environmental stewardship.

Gastro enthusiasts will revel in a food festival with 317 food stalls that represents Felda's culinary diversity from across the country, offering a taste of local flavours and traditions.

In a bid to discover new talent within the community, the "Feel Da Star" competition is set to unearth the next singing sensation among the Felda community, adding a touch of excitement and entertainment to the festivities.

Additionally, the event will host a record-breaking attempt for the largest motorcycle gathering, showcasing the spirit and unity of the Felda community.

From a spiritual perspective, there will a remarkable event — a five-minute Khatam Al-Quran (memorisation) involving 6,236 students, marking a historic first for both Felda and Malaysia. This initiative underscores the deep cultural and spiritual values that continue to thrive within the community.

These festivals represent just a glimpse of what's to come; many more events are currently being planned and will be announced soon.

This year's Felda Settlers' Day also marks a pivotal moment in Felda's rebranding efforts. With the theme "Segalanya Felda", the event will reintroduce Felda to the public, highlighting its transformation into a leader in sustainable agriculture and community development.

Felda Settlers' Day 2024 is about showcasing the strides Felda has made in enhancing the livelihoods of its community and the ongoing efforts to ensure a sustainable future for all, said a Felda spokesperson recently.

A highlight of the event is the emphasis on unity and pride among the Felda community. Organisers have meticulously planned activities that encourage participation from all age groups, fostering a sense of community and collective achievement.

From young innovators to seasoned farmers, every participant will find something to connect with, ensuring that the spirit of togetherness is palpable throughout the event.

As Felda stands on the threshold of a new era, Felda Settlers' Day 2024 is more than just a festival. It is a declaration of progress, resilience and hope. It is an invitation to everyone to witness and be part of Felda's journey towards a sustainable and prosperous future.
