NIBONG TEBAL: Umno is open to accepting former members who wish to rejoin the party, party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.
"Umno is very open... the door of Umno is always open.
"And I reckon that whoever would like to come back to Umno, we will definitely look into it.
"We have the disciplinary board and political bureau to look into such applications by any former Umno members," he said.
When speaking to reporters here, Zahid had been referred to reports that Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had only recently found out that former minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed was no longer a Bersatu member and asked if Umno was willing to open its doors to Mustapa.
The media recently reported that Mustapa had reiterated his stance that he had retired from politics and would not contest in any elections.
