KUALA KUBU BAHARU: Newly elected Kuala Kubu Baharu state assemblyman Pang Sock Tao has pledged to address local issues affecting the community.

Emphasising her commitment, she said that her primary focus is to actively listen to residents' concerns and tackle problems head-on.

"I shall seek solutions with the team, the local authority and the state government to ensure that local problems can be resolved.

"Throughout my campaign, there have been several issues raised that need to be addressed, "she said.

Some examples which she plans to quickly address include malfunctioning streetlights, clogged drains, and poor internet connectivity.

"For other issues however, there may be a need for a long-term and a more holistic solution," she told reporters after being officially announced as the state assemblyman.

Pang also expressed her thanks to the voters in today's by-election.

She said that she will move to Kuala Kubu Baharu and pledge to be a representative for all communities regardless of race and religion.

Pang had earlier won 14,000 votes in the by-election, defeating Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut who gained 10,131 votes while Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainuddin secured 152 votes and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin secured 188.

She led with a majority of 3,869.
