HULU SELANGOR: Some 9.72 per cent of eligible voters have cast their ballots for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election as of 9 am, the Election Commission reported.

Of the eligible voters, 769 early voters cast their votes on May 7.

A total of 39,362 people are eligible to vote in today's by-election, triggered by the death of its three-term incumbent, DAP's Lee Kee Hiong.

Voting ends at 6pm across 17 polling stations in Kuala Kubu Baharu. The voting centre in SJKC Bukit Fraser where there are only 40 registered voters, will close at 2pm.

The by-election sees a four-cornered fight involving Pang Sock Tao (Pakatan Harapan), Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and Nyau Ke Xin (Independent).
