KUALA KUBU BARU: Outstation Kuala Kubu Baharu voters have been urged to fulfill their responsibilities by returning the vote during the May 11 by-election at the state seat.

PKR vice-president Chang Lih Kang said the outcome of the by-election is crucial to convey a clear message of the people's wishes and aspirations to the unity government.

While Pakatan Harapan (PH) is confident in its candidate for the by-election, Chang said the voter turnout will still significantly impact the outcome.

"I have observed an overwhelmingly positive response from the voters here. We are confident of victory, but it all hinges on the voter turnout on polling day.

"So, I call upon outside voters to return and fulfill their civic duty. Elections are undeniably crucial for the people of Kuala Kubu Baharu," he told reporters last night.

PH is fielding Pang Sock Tao of DAP who is going against three other contenders for the by-election at he state seat.

Chang said campaign by PH for this by-election also targets fence-sitting voters who could the determine the outcome during the polling day.

"While there quarters who are boycotting (campaign by the unity government's candidate in) the elections, it will not deter us. Most voters don't intend to boycott; they'll make their choice on polling day.

"What's notable this time is the increased presence of fence-sitting voters. The campaign team is focused, and despite initial challenges, party components are working well together," he said.

Selangor executive councillor for housing and culture, Borhan Aman Shah, said early voters should seize the opportunity to support the unity government candidate.

He urged early voters to assess the unity government's contributions in easing their burdens when casting their votes.

"They should evaluate the unity government's efforts. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, there have been announcements of salary increases for civil servants.

"I appeal to early voters to support the unity candidate, as the majority of them are civil servants. Please lend your support to our cause."

The Election Commission has fixed Tuesday as early voting at the state seat.
