KUALA KUBU BARU: Fahmi Fadzil has taken a jab at P. Ramasamy for urging voters to boycott the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election.

"I think Ramasamy lacks affection (kurang kasih sayang), he said of the United Rights of Malaysian Party (Urimai) president.

"I'm not sure if he himself or his party has applied to be a part of PN. He should join PN because I believe a lot of people will love him," he said at a press conference after a working visit to the KKB National Information Dissemination Centre (Nadi).

The PKR Information chief's response was prompted by calls from Ramasamy urging voters in KKB to boycott PH.

Ramasamy, who is also the former Penang deputy chief minister, said this serves as a lesson to Putrajaya for continuously breaking promises to the people.

Fahmi added that MIC would be helping and supporting PH in their campaigns to attract more Indian voters and counter Ramasamy's calls.

"The MIC president himself has come down to campaign. This evening, I have also met with the Umno state liaison committee secretary and they said they had a discussion to liaise the workflow and ensure that all goes well.

"I can see that the efforts are ongoing and all is well," he added.

The Election Commission (EC) has fixed May 11 for the KKB by-election following Lee's passing.

The KKB by-election would see a four-corner battle between Pakatan Harapan's Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Hafizah Zainudin from Parti Rakyat Malaysia and Nyau Ke Xin who is an independent candidate.\
