KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional (PN) today announced its "shadow cabinet" line-up, but stopped short of appointing a "shadow" prime minister.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, said the question of PN's pick for prime minister should not arise since Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was chairman of the pact.
"The time will come when you know who is going to be our prime minister (candidate).
"And I do not think we should announce who is going to be our prime minister (candidate)," he told reporters here today, adding that "Tan Sri Muhyiddin (Yassin) is my (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) president."
Hamzah, who is also Larut member of parliament, said: "There is nothing wrong with him. He was the prime minister (during the previous PN-led Federal government).
"He stepped down just because a group of people (MPs) from Umno and Barisan Nasional withdraw their support for him.
"He still has a chance (to become the prime minister again). There is nothing wrong for us to promote him again as prime minister," he said.
Hamzah also dismissed claims that all was not well in PN due to tensions between Pas and Bersatu.
"We are all very happy. Either from Pas or Bersatu, we are all very happy together.
"We are all here fighting for the sake of the people of this country," he said.
Earlier, Hamzah unveiled the portfolios of PN leaders and MPs who would "shadow" ministers.
Among them is Putrajaya MP Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, who has been assigned the finance portfolio.
Bachok MP Syahir Che Sulaiman, who debated against Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli on television last year, has been handed the economy portfolio.
