KUALA LUMPUR: Eight Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) members are waiting for Parliament to reconvene to declare their support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Bukit Gantang member of parliament (MP) Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal.

He said they were taking the 'wait and see' approach and were waiting for the right time.

"(The claims that eight Bersatu members are declaring their support for Anwar) is still relevant.

"They are taking the approach to wait because Parliament will convene on Feb 28, and only then will these activities resume.

"They are waiting and observing what will happen during these two months."

Syed Abu Hussin said among their reasons for supporting the prime minister is to secure government allocations for their parliamentary constituency.

Last month, he claimed that several more MPs from Perikatan Nasional (PN) would express their support for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim soon.

The Bersatu MP claimed that about seven or eight MPs in several states would throw their support behind the prime minister.

He, however, refused to reveal the identity of the MPs involved and whether they were from Pas or Bersatu.

Besides Syed Abu Hussin, four more MPs from Bersatu have declared their support for Anwar's leadership, namely Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) and Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Laban).
