KLANG: The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has been urged to relist the "infamous" Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang's mandate or better known as Amanat Haji Hadi as "haram" (forbidden in Islam).

The call was made by a Parti Amanah Negara delegate from Terengganu, Suhaimi Hashim when debating the party's presidential speech at the 2023 National Amanah Convention here today.

Suhaimi, also the Terengganu Amanah treasurer, said it was imperative for Jakim and the federal government to eradicate any forms of Tafkiri (radicalism) ideology from beleaguering the country's political landscape.

"It is about time for us to urge Jakim to re-issue a fatwa declaring the Amanat Haji Hadi as forbidden in Islam.

"I had high hopes when we returned as the federal administration in 2022, we would propose for the National Fatwa Council to declare it (Amanat Haji Hadi) as deviated and against the ijmak (consensus of) ulama (Islamic scholars)."

Suhaimi went on to claim that Terengganu was the start of the spread of the Takfiri ideology.

"Terengganu is the main fortress of our biggest (political) foes. Here is the start of the spread of the Takfiri ideology in Malaysia.

"We must not take lightly issues surrounding the spread of such ideology. We must understand the gravity of the issue," he said.

It was reported in 2021 that Johor DAP vice chairman Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali had urged the authorities to clarify if the fatwa against 'Amanat Haji Hadi' has been removed by Jakim.

Sheikh Umar was quoted by an online portal at the time as saying the message Abdul Hadi delivered seriously impacted the country's political landscape.

Another Amanah delegate urged the formation of a unity government in Johor in line with the federal administration.

Johor Amanah treasurer Mohd Zuhan Zain said although Barisan Nasional (BN) has the majority seats in the Johor state legislative assembly, the state administration must also be represented by representatives from Pakatan Harapan.

"Johor Amanah wants the party to send a signal to form a unity government in Johor, he said.

Zuhan also wants the Puteri Wangsa state seat in Johor, which is now being represented by Amira Aisya Abd Aziz of the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda), to be returned to Johor Amanah in the next elections.

"The Puteri Wangsa seat must be returned to Amanah for it to be returned as status quo," he said.

Amira Aisya won Puteri Wangsa during the 15th Johor state election in 2021 when Muda was part of the PH pact.

There were calls for Amira Aisya to vacate the seat after Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman in September announced that the party was no longer part of the Madani government.
