KLANG: Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu has snubbed the call made by a Pas leader for Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) to abandon its cooperation with DAP.

The Amanah president outright rejected and refused the call made by Pas spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin.

Mohamad, fondly known as Mat Sabu among his supporters and followers, also reminded Pas that the Islamist parties had sung praises for DAP when the two parties were in the same political pact back in 2018.

"No. (Amanah will not abandon DAP). We (Amanah) do not want to entertain such a call.

"Pas, themselves, had not only cooperated with DAP but they had also sung praises of the latter (when the two parties were in the same political pact) in 2018," he told reporters after delivering his presidential speech at the 2023 National Amanah Convention here today.

Mohamad, who is also the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, took a swipe at Pas when the former cynically said Amanah was merely following the footsteps of the Islamist party working together with DAP.

"In 2018, they (Pas) had no problem working together with DAP. We (Amanah) are now merely following in their footsteps by cooperating with DAP," Mohamad said in jest.

In a report published by an online portal this morning, Hashim told Amanah to ditch DAP if the former was serious about collaborating with Pas.

He added that similar to Amanah, Pas also had the right to fix conditions in order for both parties to work together.

Hashim was responding to comments made by Amanah vice-president Adly Zahari who said that his party did not see Pas as an enemy.

Amanah is a splinter party of Pas after the latter decided to exit Pakatan Harapan in 2015.
