ALOR STAR: Kedah Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has lodged a police report against Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang for allegedly likening the Madani government to the Israeli government.

Kedah Amanah chairman Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh urged police to investigate the Marang member of Parliament for sedition in the latter's article published on the Harakah Daily portal on Wednesday.

Dr Ismail claimed that the article with the headline "Cara golongan munafiq menentang Islam diikuti Israel dan Pakatan Harapan" demonstrated Hadi's treacherous attitude towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decision to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister.

"This clearly shows the treacherous attitude of the Pas president against the decision by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the Council of Regent in the appointment of the prime minister and the formation of the unity government.

"His remarks also clearly contained seditious elements to incite the Muslim community in Malaysia hatred against the Malaysian government by likening the Malaysian government with Israel," Dr Ismail said in a Facebook posting after filing the report at Kota Setar police headquarters.

He urged the police to launch an investigation against Hadi right away for uttering seditious remarks in his writing.

In the article, Hadi shared a story on how the `munafiq (hypocrites among Muslims)' campaigned with the Ansar community in Madinah to impose economic sanctions against Prophet Muhammad.

He said it was done to get the righteous followers to walk away from Prophet Muhammad because they were isolated from receiving financial support.

Hadi has compared the action to the financial allocation, petroleum royalty and so on to the state governments of Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis, as well as Pas and Perikatan Nasional members of Parliament.

He claimed that the action was against the principle of federalism, as taxes collected by the federal government from all states should be distributed equally to everyone regardless of their political affiliation.

Hadi further claimed that such a tactic of forcing the people to support the government through such means was a practice during the 'jahiliyyah' (pre-Prophet Muhammad's era), which was also practised by the Zionist regime in Israel against the people of Palestine.
