KUALA LUMPUR: DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng has challenged Kepala Batas member of Parliament (MP) Siti Mastura Mohamad to prove the alleged familial relations between him, Chin Peng and Lee Kuan Yew.

Chin Peng, whose real name is Ong Boon Hua, was the former Malayan Communist Party leader, and Lee Kuan Yew was the former Prime Minister of Singapore.

Lim said the Pas MP will have until Thursday to prove her claims.

"Measures would be taken to demand an explanation from her, urging her to provide evidence of any family connections between us, Chin Peng, Kuan Yew, and among ourselves. Should she fail to do so, we will take appropriate action.

"This is a malicious slander against me, my family, and prominent DAP leaders. My father, Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, even though he has retired, is still targeted by the Pas Kepala Batas MP.

"We have no blood ties with Chin Peng and Lee Kuan Yew. Also, we have no family ties with Anthony Loke, Teresa Kok and Nga Kor Ming," he said in a press conference in parliament today.

Siti Mastura previously alleged that the former Finance Minister has family connections with Lee Kuan Yew and Chin Peng during her speech in Kemaman, Terengganu.

Through a video speech shared on social media, the deputy head of Penang Pas Muslimat Council also linked Guan Eng and his wife, Betty Chew Gek Cheng, to other DAP leaders, namely Anthony Loke, Teresa Kok, Nga Kor Ming, and Ngeh Koo Ham.

"Once again, we can clearly see the dirty political game of extremism and baseless slander being played by the Pas.

"Siti Mastura is trying to demean us as political leaders, and her remark also reeks of racism.

"This should not happen, as we live in a country with a multicultural society. Instead, we should be striving for the betterment of all regardless of race or background," Lim said.

Meanwhile, Siti Mastura refused to comment and requested time to review the video while approached by the reporters at the parliament.

"I will watch the (my) full video (again). I do not want to answer questions that I do not know the context," she said.
