KUALA LUMPUR: Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said there was no discussion on action against a Melaka assemblyman who attended a programme organised by Perikatan Nasional (PN) two months ago.

He said the issue, related to Rembia assemblyman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis, was not mentioned in the Supreme Council meeting today.

"It was not discussed," he said in a Press conference today.

Muhammad Jailani reportedly appeared at the announcement of PN candidates for by-elections in Pulai parliamentary constituency and Simpang Jeram state seat in Bakri, Johor in August.

He defended his action saying that he attended the programme not in his capacity as an Umno assemblyman but representing non-governmental organisation Muafakat Nasional.

He reportedly told the party to sack him for his action.

Asyraf Wajdi previously said that a show cause notice would be issued to the Melaka executive councillor.
