BENTONG: The Pelangai constituency, particularly Felda Chemomoi, has the potential to be developed as a hub for bird-related industries and serve as a tourist attraction.

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam said he has identified a number of industries which could be introduced in the area and help the locals generate additional income.

He said this could serve as an alternative industry for the youth as well as the elderly, enabling them to participate in improving the local economy.

"Another economic programme we have identified involves farming. We found that the youth here are passionate over agricultural activities as well as poultry farming.

"There is also a keen interest in rearing birds such as 'burung merbok (zebra doves) and 'burung serindit' (hanging parrots). As such, we plan to develop bird-related industries in Felda Chemomoi.

"All these could prove to be the 'wow factor' here to draw people to the area," he told reporters during a visit to the area.

Asked on Felda Chemomoi's potential to be turned into a hub for motorised extreme sports, Amizar said this would fit the area to a tee.

He said such facilities could draw existing four-wheel drive groups to the constituency.

Amizar said he is willing to work with any parties who are keen on developing Felda Chemomoi as a spot for extreme sports.

"This could also lead to the involvement of more youths from Felda Chemomoi. In discussions with Felda authorities here, the authority expressed an interest in working with us to promote such activities here.

I'm willing to help realise this vision," he said.
