BESUT: Any political party can win in the Aug 12 state elections, said former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said no single party could win a "clean sweep" in every constituency as anything was possible during the campaigning period.

"This is only the fourth day of campaigning. There are still many more days for parties to canvass for votes.

"Candidates need to consider themselves as underdogs and don't give too much hope to the election machinery or they will not work.

"They must work hard to obtain victory and work until the finish line."

He said this at the Majlis Jamuan Rakyat Terengganu in Kampung Seberang Jertih here today.

Present was former Besut member of parliament Tan Sri Idris Jusoh and Barisan Nasional candidate for the Jertih state seat, Mohd Rozaini Mohd Rasli.

Ismail Sabri said campaigning was going smoothly, with no problems between supporters of opposing parties.

"We hope the machinery will work hard for the party and not cause trouble.

"State elections are held to determine which party will win and which leader will lead.

"The machinery must not be too extreme or go overboard while campaigning.

"If the machinery works hard, nothing can stop them from winning."

He hoped BN would emerge victorious in Terengganu.
