KUALA LUMPUR: Perikatan Nasional's Hulu Klang candidate Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali is banking on his previous experience as the assemblyman in the same constituency in the past.

"I am not an outsider. They are used to me. We have been a big family in Hulu Klang because the first political mandate I received was from them.

"I know most of the Hulu Klang people very well and I do not have problems convincing them.

Moreover, my presence was very much welcomed by them.

"I vow to continue my services and contribute to bringing progress to Hulu Klang in order for it to be developed, while uplifting the dignity of the folks here," Azmin said after the Ziarah Kasih campaign trail walkabout in Lembah Keramat ,here.

Azmin is in a straight fight with Pakatan Harapan's Juwairiya Zulkifli in the Aug 12 state polls.

Asked on challenges in contesting the seat, he said it depended on the constituency's demographic.

"As I said, the people of Hulu Klang know me. They've seen my performance and this will give me an advantage to continuing serving."

On his campaigning strategy, the former Selangor Menteri Besar said he kept to the house-to-house visit method to meet the people.

He said it was more effective in terms of personal touch to understand the people's needs in health, education and more.

"That is why I take on the action-oriented approach. I can act swiftly based on the information I receive.

"Apart from being effective, it strengthens ties with the community," he said.
