BESUT: Umno Youth are not ruling out the possibility that a swing in votes could take place among voters in the state election in Terengganu.

Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh said although the results of the 15th General Election in Terengganu and the Besut parliamentary seat was not in Barisan Nasional's favour, the reverse could happen in the state election.

"The election machinery needs to work hard during the campaign period. A vote swing is possible.

"I believe that those who voted one way in GE15 may not necessarily vote the same way this time around.

"This state election, the voters will be assessing whether a candidate has ability to get close to the voters, or has the ability to work or not. All these factors will determine whether a vote swing will be in BN's favour," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after accompanying BN's Jertih candidate, Mohd Rozaini Mohd Rasli in Gong Kemuntong here.

Also present were former Besut member of parliament Tan Sri Idris Jusoh, Terengganu Umno Youth chief Tengku Haphiz Tengku Putera, as well as Bera Umno Youth chief Nashriq Ismail Sabri.

Akmal hoped that all elected representatives will give their all for the people.

"We hope that all BN candidates will secure wins in Terengganu and that the state government will shift from Pas to BN," he said.

Umno Youth has 13 candidates contesting in the six state elections.

They are Ahmad Zaki Shah Shah Headan in Teluk Bahang, Penang, followed by Zuhairi Zakaria (Gual, Ipoh); Mohd Rosdi Razali (Kalaboran); Mohamad Husain (Salor); Muhamad Yamin Anuar Mat Zin (Kuala Balah); Mohd Aliff Nasrol Mat Nasin (Gaal) and Muhammad Fakhran Che Jusoh (Pulau Chondong) in Kelantan.
