TUMPAT: Four state legislative assembly seats in Tumpat are being contested by eight candidates for the upcoming State Elections, with four representing Pas and the other four representing Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Two candidate nomination centre were opened at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Agama Falahiah where candidates for Pasir Pekan and Wakaf Bharu registered their papers, while the candidates for Kelaboran and Pengkalan Kubor registered at SMK Dato' Bijiwangsa.

The four Pas candidates representing Perikatan Nasional (PN) are Datuk Ahmad Yakob, who is also the caretakaer Menteri Besar (DUN Pasir Pekan), Mohd Rusli Abdullah (Wakaf Bharu), Wan Roslan Wan Hamat (Pengkalan Kubor), and Mohd Adanan Hassan (Kelaboran), all of whom are the respective incumbent state representatives.

PH, on the other hand, saw Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah, who is also the Umno chief for Tumpat, representing DUN Pengkalan Kubor, along with three other newcomers, namely Abdul Mannan Md Said (Wakaf Bharu), Rosdi Razali (Kelaboran), and Mohamad Zamakh Sari Ibrahim from PKR.

The announcement of the state candidates for Wakaf Bharu and Pasir Pekan was made at 10.30am by the respective candidate nomination centre managers.

For Mohamad Zamakh Sari Ibrahim from PKR, despite competing against a prominent name from Pas, he remains confident and focused on fighting for issues in the Pasir Pekan constituency.

"I will fully utilise this opportunity to address several matters that are still pending for the people in Pasir Pekan. Despite running against a well-known figure, I believe the people will choose to give a chance for change, and this struggle can win their support," he told reporters here today.
