KUALA TERENGGANU: The Pas-led Terengganu government has allegedly been unfair in its flood aid distribution during the disaster last December.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there had been claims that the aid was only given to Pas supporters.

He said the government should be fair regardless of which party the individual supported.

"I went to visit flood victims in Seberang Takir, Kuala Nerus and in Kemaman. I received a list of names that were left out from the flood relief aid and they asked where the money went despite Terengganu receiving RM50 million.

"The aid was given directly to the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and Nadma gave it to the state federal development office, before it was channeled to district officers and the Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) to be distributed to the recipients.

"However, Umno people did not receive it, only their people did," Zahid said when launching the unity government machinery at SK Sultan Sulaiman 1 here today.

It was previously reported that the government had announced a RM50 million flood aid for Kelantan and Terengganu on Dec 21 last year.

On May 13, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an additional RM50 million to help those affected by the floods in Terengganu.
