SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional (PN) has named former deputy minister Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith for the Juasseh state seat in the upcoming state poll on Aug 12.
The announcement was made by the state PN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu at an event to announce the coalition's candidates tonight.
Other than Eddin, son of the former Information, Communications and Culture minister Tan Sri Rais Yatim; Danni Rais is set to contest for the Klawang state seat.
Danni will face his cousin from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Datuk Bakri Sawir, who is also the incumbent of the seat.
Also announced as a candidate was state Pas commissioner Rafiei Mustapha, who will contest at Pilah state seat.
Faizal said two seats were not announced tonight, namely Jeram Padang and Sri Tanjong due to technical problems.
"The candidates for the two seats will be announced tomorrow instead.
"Alhamdulillah, we were able to gather a team that is set to represent PN. We hope that all the candidates will be able to win the hearts of the people in Negri Sembilan, subsequently taking over the state leadership (from PH) on August 12.
"We were slightly late in announcing candidates as there were many capable candidates, hence making it difficult for us to choose. We believe that the candidates chosen are the best among the best and set to represent the people," he told reporters after the announcement of the candidates.
On the candidate for menteri besar post, Faizal said the coalition will not be announcing it for the time being.
"Not for now, maybe later. I think that it is a good strategy for us to announce it later, without putting aside the rights of the institution for the Yang di-Pertuan Besar (Negeri Sembilan).
"We will do that at a later date," he said.
