PETALING JAYA: Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali,  Bersatu Srikandi chief Datuk Seri Rina Harun and  Nurul Syazwani Noh, the daughter of former Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar are among the highlights in the Selangor PN election candidate list announced tonight.

PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the coalition's candidate list for all 56 state seats in Selangor, which would be contested by either Bersatu, Pas or Gerakan under the PN ticket.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony in Taman Medan, Muhyiddin said PN was confident of winning Selangor, provided 90 per cent of the Malay voters turned out to vote.

" This does not mean that the Chinese and Indian voters are less important, they are equally important for PN to win in Selangor," he said.

He said in the past general elections, 30 per cent of Malay voters did not come out to vote.

" Had the turn out among the Malay community been better, we could have secured four to five additional Parliament seats," he said calling on Selangorians to exeecise their voting right on Aug 12.

He said this state election is one which is very unusual because voters will not only be voting to choose the state government but the outcome of this election will have a great impact on the present Federal government.

" The list im about to announce are very capable candidates who PN have sieved through to make sure they are the right candidates to serve each seat in Selangor.

"All of these 56 candicates have been carefully vetted by the police, MACC, Inland Revenue Board and the insolvency department before brought upon this stage," he said.

" We are together in this as a coalition and accept a win by Bersatu, Pas or Gerakan candidate in Selangor as a win for PN ".

Among the familiar faces contesting in Selangor are Azmin for N18 Hulu Kelang in Gombak and Rina for Batu Tiga Shah Alam.

Azmin will be contesting against Selangor MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's former political secretary, Juwairiya Zulkifli.

Speaking to reporters after the announcement, Azmin said Hulu Kelang was his first win as an assemblyman in 1999.

However in the 2004 general elections, he lost the seat to a BN candidate.

In 2008 he contested in Bukit Antarabangsa and held the seat for two terms.

The former Selangor Menteri Besar won the Bukit Antarabangsa state assembly seat on the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ticket in GE14 with a majority of over 25,000.
