PETALING JAYA: The PKR Disciplinary Board will decide on the necessary actions to be taken against former Kota Anggerik State Assemblyman (Adun), Najwan Halimi, for allegedly making statements with racial undertones.

Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, expressed his personal disagreement with Najwan's position.

"Yesterday, without delay, he (Najwan) apologised, and I believe he should follow up with a response to his actions. He also personally contacted the secretary-general of PSM (Parti Sosialis Malaysia), A. Sivarajan, possibly acknowledging his mistake or oversight.

"However, what he did was not in a public space but in a WhatsApp group. Although I disagree with such perspectives and thoughts, it is not comparable to Sanusi (Caretaker Kedah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor), who made those remarks during a public lecture and then defended himself, attempting to twist the statements before finally apologising," he said.

Amirudin was speaking to reporters after attending the #IniMasaKami Youth Voice Convention organised by Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) here today.

Earlier on Twitter, Sivarajan raised the question of whether Najwan made racially charged statements against his party's candidate. Sivarajan also uploaded a screenshot of Najwan's slur in response to PSM's announcement that the party appointed Sivaranjani Manickam in Meru.

As a result of this statement, the deputy chief of Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), Prasanth Kumar Brakasam, urged the party to take disciplinary action against Najwan for violating the party's constitutional ethics.

According to him, leaders within PKR should refrain from making divisive comments, as the public is well aware that the party represents multiple ethnicities and religions.

In response, Najwan apologised for his alleged racially charged statement towards PSM and asserted that he is not a person who promotes racial division or holds prejudices against any particular community, including the Indian community.
