SHAH ALAM: Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) is optimistic that it can win the State Legislative Assembly seats in non-Malay majority areas if it "fits" with its drawn-up strategy.

State Pas commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi said this could be realised if PN component parties, via the state election machinery, could unite to underscore their togetherness to attract voters to support the coalition.

"We are targeting several seats (in non-Malay majority areas) to achieve victory. That's right, this is despite us targeting seats in areas with a Malay voter population of over 60 per cent.

"But there is no denying that with the PN wave happening in the country, we can win seats in areas where Malay voters represent less than 60 per cent of the population, God willing.

"For that reason, our strategy has to be right. We must remain united because starting today, this is the spirit of unity and cooperation that we want to show voters.

"We have decided that since the first Selangor PN tour in Tanjong Karang, we will wear PN shirts, and until the state election, until we win (even once) we will continue to use the symbol and (wear) them," he said at the Selangor PN Election Convention 2023 at the Ideal Convention Center (IDCC) here today.

The former Sijangkang state assembly member was confident that PN could seize Selangor and believed it could result in a domino effect that could affect the federal government's position.

He said it was important for the election machinery to be on high alert to help PN win in Selangor.

"This is our determination and passion to show. If PN wins in Selangor, the government landscape at the central level will change," he said
