KUALA NERUS: The Terengganu Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership will next week hold more discussions on seat distribution for the state elections.

Terengganu Umno assistant secretary Bazlan Abd Rahman said the state BN leadership would meet with Kelantan and Terengganu Leadership Council chairman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad next week.

The council was formed by PH to strengthen the alliance with BN in Kelantan and Terengganu.

"We have yet to come to a final decision on the seat distribution between BN and PH for the elections in Terengganu," said Bazlan.

"The matter was raised at a meeting in Kuala Lumpur but we did not reach a decision at the time.

"Let us wait for another meeting, which is likely to be held on May 2," he told reporters here today.

Bazlan, who is also the Setiu Umno division deputy chief, believed the party and BN have a fifty-fifty chance of wresting the Terengganu state administration from Perikatan Nasional (PN).

The party, he said, would look for ways to restore the people's confidence in Umno and BN.

"Apart from retaining the 10 state constituencies won by BN in the previous elections, our target is to win seven more seats to form the state government in Terengganu," said Bazlan.

State BN chief Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Said is confident that BN and PH would finalise the seat distribution before July.

"I believe the matter can be decided before both political pacts go to the polls," he said.

On a separate matter, Ahmad said the Malaysia Madani Aidilfitri open house with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Terengganu on May 13 will not be paid for with state funds.

"The state Umno and BN leadership will ensure the open house programme in Terengganu proceeds accordingly."

He was responding to claims by PN that the open house in Terengganu would draw from the state coffers.

"These are PN's antics. They will accuse (us) of wasting (the people's money). However, it would not be an issue if they were the ones who organised the programme," he said.
