KUALA LUMPUR: The pardon of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and dropping the charges against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would spell disaster for the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led government.

Pasir Gudang member of Parliament Hassan Abdul Karim said the good image of the Anwar-led government has been tarnished because of these two issues.

"Anwar has to be reminded that the Pakatan Harapan and PKR will be rejected by the people in the six state elections that will be held soon. PH and PKR will then be ousted by the people in the following general elections.

"In the end, PH and PKR will collapse along with Barisan Nasional and Umno if Najib and Zahid are simply released and freed.

"If that happened, don't say I did not tell you so," said Hassan in a posting on his Facebook page today.

Najib is seeking a royal pardon after his appeal at the Federal Court to review the conviction and sentence in the SRC International corruption case was dismissed while Zahid's lawyers have filed a representation to the Attorney General Chamber to drop the 47 counts of money laundering and criminal breach of trust (CBT) charges involving funds from Yayasan Akalbudi as well as bribery charges.
