PUTRAJAYA: It is the prerogative of the respective coalitions which form the unity government to decide on what logo they want to use in the upcoming six state polls.

Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said this was because PH and Barisan Nasional would each have their own symbols which represent their respective domain.

"For the upcoming state elections, when it comes to the aspect of logo usage, that matter lies solely within the domain of the respective coalitions which form the unity goverment.

"This is because the unity government does not have its own logo. Pakatan Harapan has its own logo , and Barisan Nasional has its own logo," he told a dialogue with members of the media at the Home Ministry here today.

Saifuddin, who is home minister, said this when commenting on BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement today about its candidates using the dacing (scales) logo for state polls.

Zahid had also said that despite the usage of different logos among components in the unity government, they would still be on the same page when it comes to other matters such as election strategy.

Saifuddin said BN's decision on the usage of its own logo  had been relayed informally to PH.

He said PH and BN have also set the parameters for seat negotiations  for the state polls. He said  the first round of negotiations were held recently, and this would be followed by subsequent round to finalise the matter.

On a related subject,  Saifuddin said the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will be included in the next meetings involving the three committees under the Unity Government Secretariat.

He said although Muda was not officially a PH component, it had previously entered into an electoral pact with the coalition prior to the 15th General Election last year.

"We decided that Muda and other parties who are not part of either of the coalitions in the unity government to be included in the next meetings of the the committees formed under the Unity Government Secretariat."
