KUALA LUMPUR: All Umno members must comply with and obey any decision made by the party's Supreme Council, said party president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman explained this was important even though he considers himself to be someone who celebrates differences of opinion with other Umno leaders or members.
"I appreciate differences of opinion and different points of view. This has been proven in several (meetings) of the Supreme Council that I have chaired.
"One more thing, I have great respect during the (meeting) of the supreme council where we allow differences of opinion and stance.
"But when the Supreme Council makes a decision, we (have to) agree and obey the decision," he said when speaking at the announcement ceremony for Umno candidates for the party election at Hotel Seri Pacific tonight.
